A Chrysler Pacifica lemon law lawyer starts with both, because each sits on a public recall record. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall lookup by VIN shows which campaigns apply to your van.

A recall filing records what FCA told NHTSA. It is not proof about your van, so a claim rests on your repair orders. California allows a buyback when FCA's dealers cannot fix a nonconformity after a reasonable number of repair attempts. That means a fair count of tries, which depends on each van's history. A buyback means FCA takes the van back and refunds what you paid. A nonconformity is a defect that substantially impairs the van's use, value or safety.

Cline APC takes only lemon law and warranty cases, from its La Jolla and Poway offices. If your Pacifica sits under an advisory or keeps shutting down, call (888) 982-6915.

Does a Do-Not-Charge Letter or a Stop-Safely Warning Need a Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Lawyer?

It can, if the fault survives the dealer's repairs. FCA's filing for campaign 26V362000 covers some 2020 to 2022 plug-in hybrids. It advises owners not to recharge and to park away from structures and other vehicles. Pacifica owners tell NHTSA their dash warned that the van would shut off soon.

A September 30, 2026 pull found at least 83 NHTSA complaints quoting that warning on 2020 to 2024 Pacificas. Complaints are individual owner accounts, not findings. The first four items are FCA's wording, while the last two come from owner complaints.

  • The recall letter says to stop recharging and park away from structures
  • The backup camera image may not display in reverse
  • Traction control may be lost while cruise control is on
  • Electronic stability control may be disabled
  • The dash says to stop safely because the vehicle will shut off soon
  • The van coasts to the shoulder and restarts after several minutes

Say your 2022 Pacifica Hybrid posts the warning on State Route 163 near Mission Valley and coasts onto the shoulder. A dealer on Camino Del Rio South finds no stored fault. That visit can still count as a repair attempt if the order records the warning and the conditions you described.

Which Pacifica Campaigns Should a Lemon Law Lawyer Match to Your Model Year?

Match your VIN to each campaign, because model years overlap. FCA's 2026 battery recall reaches 17,277 plug-in hybrids built August 5, 2020 to May 2, 2022. Its shutdown recall reaches 67,117 plug-ins from 2017 to 2023. Camera and stability campaigns reach other years, and one VIN may sit in several campaigns at once.

Five campaigns address a rearview image that may not display, and each cites FMVSS 111, the federal rear visibility standard. As of September 30, 2026, NHTSA lists 1,027 complaints on 2021 to 2026 Pacificas, led by engine, electrical and power train. Those counts overlap, since one complaint can name several systems.

What Did FCA Report About the Battery and Shutdowns, and Why Does a Pacifica Lemon Law Attorney Care?

FCA's June 2026 filing says the plug-in battery may fail internally and cause a fire with the ignition off. The root cause investigation continues. Its shutdown filing says the remedy is software that gives a message and time to exit traffic. A recall visit alone therefore does not show the defect was cured.

Say a 2021 Pacifica Hybrid in Carmel Valley charged overnight in an attached garage. After the June letter, the owner parks at the curb, and the van runs on gasoline alone. Every part of that story, from the letter to the fuel receipts, becomes evidence.

LG Cells, an Alternative Assembly Line and Four Fires Since 2023

FCA filed 26V362000 on June 4, 2026, and owner letters began June 23, 2026. Its Part 573 report ties the problem to cells built on an alternative assembly line at LG Energy Solution. It counts four reports of battery fires since August 2023. FCA says it tried to repurchase those vehicles but received only one for analysis. The report says NHTSA opened a recall query on 2017 and 2018 plug-ins in January 2024 and widened it on March 27, 2026 to 2017 through 2026 models. Dealers load battery control software, inspect the pack and replace it if necessary. FCA also promises a battery warranty extension, unlimited years and miles, for vans showing related messages. Separately, NHTSA's record calls 24V538000, which covers 2019 to 2021 plug-ins, an expansion of the 2022 recall 22V077000 for 2017 and 2018 plug-ins.

Software That Warns Before a Shutdown and the XE1 Extension

FCA first filed 23V010000 on January 17, 2023. Its amended Part 573 report of January 30, 2025 describes the defect as an internal transmission wiring connector short or a rotor bearing installation defect. The remedy updates Power Inverter Module software so the driver gets a message and enough drive time to exit traffic. FCA pairs it with warranty extension XE1, unlimited years and miles, to repair the transmission on vans showing related messages. A warning that returns after the update may mean the defect remains. Each return visit also adds to the repair history.

Should a Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Lawyer See the Repair Order Behind Recall Code 52D?

Yes. The battery inspection under recall code 52D ends with a passed pack and new software, or with a replaced pack. Either way, the order should show the date, the mileage and the code. A no-fault shutdown visit can still count if the order records the warning and the conditions you described.

Say the pack passes inspection, only to throw a battery message three months later. That second visit can be another dated attempt on the same problem. FCA planned a final letter for 2020 and 2021 vans and an interim letter for 2022 vans.

Advisory Days in the Driveway Versus Days in the Service Bay

Days parked at home under the advisory are not days in a repair bay, but they show lost use. Two separate 30-day rules govern the service bay. Section 1793.22(b)(3), a route to the presumption, counts more than 30 cumulative days out of service for repair of nonconformities. Conditions beyond FCA's control extend that count, but a signed extension does not. Section 1793.2(b) separately sets 30 days for FCA to complete each repair. That time stretches only with your written agreement or a delay beyond FCA's control. Keep FCA's letters, charging records, fuel receipts and dated photos of where the van sat.

Reimbursed Battery Repairs and the Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Refund

FCA's recall letters tell owners who already paid to repair the same condition how to seek reimbursement. Owners can file online or mail original receipts to FCA Customer Assistance in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The letter says reimbursement follows within 60 days after FCA receives and verifies the documents. FCA's repayment should not be counted a second time in a buyback, so log each charge and refund with dates. A charge FCA does not repay may still count as incidental damages, meaning a reasonable expense the defect caused.

Can a Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Lawyer Use a Do-Not-Charge Letter Toward a Buyback?

It can help show the defect substantially impairs use, value or safety. The letter alone meets no presumption route, though. Civil Code section 1793.22(b) treats FCA as having had a reasonable number of repair attempts only once its conditions are met. Chrysler lemon law claims still turn on each van's record.

The presumption applies within 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first. It has three routes. Two or more repairs of a nonconformity likely to cause death or serious bodily injury open the first. Four or more repairs of the same nonconformity open the second. More than 30 cumulative days out of service for repair opens the third. The first two also require direct notice to FCA itself, at least once, when the warranty clearly requires that step. FCA can still rebut the presumption. After the window, a claim can still rest on the full repair history under section 1793.2(d)(2).

Say you bought a 2022 Pacifica Hybrid at Mossy Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Chula Vista for cheap daily runs to Sorrento Valley. Months of gasoline-only driving are a loss a lawyer can document.

Extra Gasoline Under Section 1794(b)

Extra gasoline is not one of the repair, towing or rental costs the lemon law names. Section 1794(b)(2) still applies Commercial Code section 2715, which can reach other reasonable expenses a breach caused. Comparing fuel receipts from the advisory period with the months before it gives a starting figure. Whether that figure belongs in a demand depends on how clearly the records tie it to the advisory.

Does XE1 or the Battery Extension Move the Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Deadline?

According to the Department of Consumer Affairs, or DCA, FCA US LLC elected the newer procedures on April 25, 2025. That is the elected track, and section 871.30 covers vehicles sold new in 2025 or earlier. For a Pacifica sold new in 2026 or later, section 871.29(d) requires FCA to name the governing procedure. On the elected track, the filing clock comes from section 871.21. That rule requires suit within one year after the applicable express warranty ends, and never more than six years after delivery. The applicable warranty means FCA's written coverage for the defect. Both limits pause for repair days. They also pause for up to 60 days after a pre-suit notice, a written demand to FCA. XE1 or the battery extension may change which warranty is the applicable one. That question needs a lawyer's reading of the documents.

The pre-suit notice must reach FCA at least 30 days before filing. It is required only before a suit that seeks civil penalties, extra money for a willful violation. If FCA offers within 30 days of receipt and completes within 60, penalties stay out of the case. Missing either date leaves them available.

Should You Show Gas Receipts to a Chrysler Pacifica Lemon Law Lawyer?

Yes. Bring the contract and every repair order, including no-fault visits. Add letters for 26V362000 and 23V010000, dash warning photos, rental and tow receipts and any letter to FCA. A free consultation with Cline APC at (888) 982-6915 checks your presumption routes and deadline.

Say a Chula Vista lessee's backup camera failed after a radio replacement. Under Civil Code section 1795.4(b), a lessee, the person leasing the van, has the same rights against FCA as a buyer. The buyback calculator shows the refund formula.

A buyer who prevails recovers costs and reasonable attorney fees under section 1794(d), if a lawyer represents you. No one can promise what FCA will do, and every settlement decision stays yours. Cline APC also explains the airbag recall history in Chrysler 300 claims.
