Chrysler 300 Lemon Law Lawyer in San Diego
Your 300's airbag lamp lit again a week after the dealer said the system checked out. Maybe the curtain airbag recall also left you waiting months for parts. A Chrysler 300 lemon law lawyer looks at both as restraint problems first.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall search by VIN shows which campaigns are still open on your sedan.
The goal is a buyback, meaning FCA US LLC (FCA) takes the car back and refunds what you paid. A 300 can qualify when FCA's dealers cannot fix a nonconformity after a reasonable number of repair attempts, a count that turns on the facts. California's presumption can treat that number as met after two repairs of a defect likely to cause death or serious bodily injury, within set limits. In the statute, nonconformity means a defect that substantially impairs the car's use, value or safety. Chrysler's website says the 300 went out of production in 2023.

Airbag Lamp Back a Week After the Dealer Cleared It, Should You Call a Chrysler 300 Lawyer?
Yes, because a lit airbag lamp is the car's own report that the restraint system logged a fault. A fault that returns after a dealer visit is already a repair history. Belts that fray, a tire pressure lamp that stays lit and a car that creeps with the brake set belong there too.
If any of these match what you see, ask that the repair order say it in your own words.
- The airbag lamp comes on after rain and goes out days later.
- The lamp returns after the dealer cleared a code.
- A seat belt frays, splits or will not pull out.
- The tire pressure lamp stays lit after all four tires are filled.
- The car creeps on a slope with the parking brake set.
Say your 2022 300 shows the lamp during an oil change at Perry's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in National City. The service writer notes it, and the lamp returns a month later.
Belts That Tear, Split or Will Not Pull Out
NHTSA's data, pulled September 30, 2026, shows 31 complaints on 2021 to 2023 model year 300s after removing duplicates. Airbags drew 11 and seat belts 3. All three belt complaints involve 2021 sedans. One passenger belt tore at the seam and one driver belt split in half. Another driver belt tore and would not pull through. Each is one owner's account, not a finding.
Which Recalls Does a Lawyer Match to Each 2018 to 2023 Chrysler 300?
The curtain inflator campaign covers 2018 to 2021 sedans built from July 5, 2018, through May 19, 2021. Five more campaigns reach some 2019 through 2023 sedans, each with its own build window. 2023 is the last model year in NHTSA's listings for the 300.
| Model year | Build window where stated | Campaigns | Federal standard cited |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | Curtain inflators from July 5, 2018 | 24V198000, 18V280000, 18V332000, 18V524000 | None cited |
| 2019 | Cluster, December 14, 2018 to January 28, 2019 | 24V198000, 19V203000 | FMVSS 101 for 19V203000 |
| 2020 | Windshield, October 27 to December 4, 2020 | 24V198000, 21V516000 | FMVSS 212 for 21V516000 |
| 2021 | Curtain inflators through May 19, 2021 | 24V198000, 21V516000 | FMVSS 212 for 21V516000 |
| 2022 | Sensors, combined September 7, 2021 to August 11, 2022 | 22V504000, 22V808000 | FMVSS 138 |
| 2023 | Brake, September 5 to 11, 2023 | 24V112000 | FMVSS 135 |
Campaign 21V516000 concerns windshield bonding, 22V504000 and 22V808000 sensor batteries, 24V112000 a parking brake that may roll away, and 19V203000 a 2019 cluster that may not light driver warnings.
Say you commute on State Route 52 in a 2020 300 S and got the curtain recall letter in spring 2024. FCA's interim owner letter for this recall said the remedy was not currently available.
What Does the Curtain Inflator Recall Mean for a Chrysler 300 Lemon Law Lawyer's Case?
FCA counts 67,180 of the 284,982 vehicles in campaign 24V198000 as 300s, and the rest are Dodge Chargers. NHTSA's summary says a ruptured inflator may send sharp metal fragments at occupants. FCA's report lists no warning before it happens. So the recall visit, the parts wait and every later restraint visit belong in one file.
Say a new airbag fault appears after the curtain module swap, coded 19B on the order. The next order should cite that work. The same campaign covers the Charger, as explained in Dodge Charger claims.
Moisture, Corrosion and the Joyson Supplier Link
FCA's amended Part 573 report of February 13, 2025 updates the recall first filed on March 14, 2024. It says moisture may have entered the inflators during supplier manufacturing. Over time that may corrode an inflator from inside and potentially lead to stress corrosion cracking. The report names Joyson Safety Systems as the supplier. Its remedy replaces both side curtain airbag modules.
Parts Waits, Remedy Notices and the 26% Remedy Rate
The report scheduled remedy notices to 2020 and 2021 owners around February 20, 2025, and to 2018 and 2019 owners around April 30. In 2024, four 2021 owners told NHTSA the repair part was not yet available. A parts wait is not a repair attempt by itself, but its dates belong in your file. FCA's quarterly report of July 16, 2026, counts 74,962 of 284,982 cars as remedied, a little over 26%. That count covers the Charger and the 300 together, and NHTSA's definition of remedied includes cars inspected without needing the remedy.
Does a Could-Not-Verify Airbag Lamp Still Count When a Lawyer Builds a Chrysler 300 Lemon Law Claim?
It can. An order saying the technician could not verify the concern still proves the dealer held the sedan. It also shows FCA had a chance to repair it. Ask that each order show the stored restraint code and your own dated description. Any wiring or connector repair should list its part number.
Say a 2021 300 bought new on Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa shows the lamp twice in its first year, and the dealer clears a code each time. Both visits count as chances FCA had to fix the restraint fault.
Print the Stored Restraint Code on Every Order
A lit lamp generally means the restraint system logged a fault. The stored code can point to a seat sensor, a buckle switch, a clock spring or a curtain module. A code that repeats across visits ties those visits to one defect. One 2021 owner told NHTSA the dealer blamed bad wiring and then could not get the part. Keep every order showing a part number.
What to Write Down the Moment the Lamp Lights
First, note the date, the clock time and the mileage. Then record what the car was doing, such as starting, braking or driving after rain. Also write down whether the lamp stayed on and when it went out. Once the car is safely parked, photograph the cluster. Ask that those notes go on the next order, so your log and the dealer's records match.
Can Two Restraint Repairs and One Letter to FCA Give a Chrysler 300 Lemon Law Lawyer the Presumption?
Only within 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first. Then section 1793.22(b)(1) treats FCA as having had a reasonable number of repair attempts after two or more repairs. The defect must be likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven.
That route also needs direct notice, a report to FCA itself, at least once if FCA's warranty materials clearly disclosed the duty. Section 1793.22 adds four or more repairs of one nonconformity, with the same notice condition. Its third route is more than 30 cumulative days out of service for repair of nonconformities, and needs no letter. FCA can rebut the presumption. After the window, section 1793.2(d)(2) still requires a buyback or replacement once FCA cannot fix the nonconformity in a reasonable number of attempts. Chrysler lemon law claims on older sedans can take that longer path. Whether an airbag fault is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury turns on your records.
Chrysler 300 Lemon Law Restitution When No New 300 Can Replace Yours
You can insist on restitution, the refund, and FCA cannot make you take a replacement, a substantially identical new vehicle. No substantially identical new 300 is being built, so restitution is the practical choice. The refund starts with the price paid or payable, including transportation charges and factory options. However, nonmanufacturer items a dealer or you installed stay out. Tax, license, registration and official fees come back, plus reasonable repair, towing and rental costs you paid. FCA may subtract a mileage offset, the price times the miles at the first repair visit for the defect, divided by 120,000. Try other numbers in the buyback calculator.
April 2027, November 2029 and the Pauses in Section 871.21(c)
The Department of Consumer Affairs dates FCA US LLC's election into the newer lemon law procedures to April 25, 2025. Those chosen procedures are the elected track, and section 871.30 applies them to vehicles sold new in 2025 or earlier. For a leftover 300 sold new in 2026 or later, section 871.29(d) requires FCA to name the governing procedure when the car is sold. On the elected track, section 871.21 requires suit within one year after the applicable express warranty ends, and never more than six years after delivery. That warranty is the written coverage FCA provided at delivery for your defect. Repair days for a nonconformity pause both limits. A pre-suit notice, meaning a written demand to FCA, adds up to 60 more days of pause.
A 300 first delivered in April 2021 reaches six years in April 2027, before those pauses. For a car delivered in November 2023, the default date is November 2029, though the one-year rule may end the claim sooner. A pre-suit notice is needed only before a suit that seeks civil penalties. Those are extra money for a willful violation, up to twice actual damages under section 1794(c). FCA must receive the notice at least 30 days before the suit is filed. An offer within 30 days of receipt and completion within 60 keep penalties out, and missing either leaves them available.
Used, Certified and Demonstrator 300s After Rodriguez
In Rodriguez v. FCA US, LLC, 17 Cal.5th 189, the California Supreme Court held in 2024 that coverage still running from the factory does not turn a used car into a new one. The rule changes when FCA's new car warranty was issued with that sale. Certified pre-owned programs were outside the ruling. Certified 300s usually fall outside the new-vehicle remedy, but courts have not settled that. Say you bought a used 2022 on El Cajon Boulevard with the dealer's own 90-day warranty. Civil Code section 1795.5 puts Song-Beverly duties on a dealer that sells a used car with an express warranty. The implied warranty, an unwritten promise of fitness for ordinary use, then lasts as long as that warranty, but never under 30 days or past three months after the sale. A demonstrator or dealer-owned 300 sold with a new car warranty still counts as new.
