A Lincoln Aviator lemon law lawyer treats that pattern as a repair history. California counts repair attempts per nonconformity, a warranty defect that substantially impairs the SUV's use, value or safety. Ford's own filings, however, show repeat campaigns aimed at this one system.
You can check any VIN in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) recall lookup. The firm's Lincoln lemon law lawyers read those filings next to your repair orders. Cline APC limits its caseload to lemon law and warranty claims, with offices on Ivanhoe Avenue in La Jolla and Danielson Street in Poway.
If your Aviator's camera keeps failing after recall work, call (888) 982-6915 and bring every recall letter Ford mailed.
Does a Lincoln Aviator Backup Camera Not Working in Reverse Call for a Lemon Law Lawyer?
It can, once the same failure returns after repair. NHTSA's complaint data, pulled October 2, 2026, shows 159 complaints on 2021 to 2026 Aviators. Of those, 19 list back-over prevention, the category that covers the rearview camera. Ford's own filings describe images that go blue, black or blank, flicker, flip, linger or fail at 10 MPH or more.
Complaints are owner reports, not findings, so the filings carry the weight. Put the symptom on each repair order in plain words, such as these.
- The screen shows nothing when I shift into reverse.
- The image is blue or black, or the overhead 360 view goes dark.
- The picture flickers while my phone is in the car.
- The picture is upside down or flipped.
- The image stays on after I shift out of reverse.
- The image drops out once I reach 10 MPH.
- Lane-keeping and blind-spot alerts drop out with the camera.
Say your image flickers each time you back out of a garage with a phone in use on the console. Ford's filing for 24V368000 covers 2020 to 2024 Aviators. It says the accessory protocol image module can be affected by cell phone interference, which may make the image flicker or distort.
Which Aviator Model Years Did Ford's Camera Filings Reach, and What Does a Lawyer Check?
NHTSA's October 2, 2026 pull lists 44 recall campaigns on 2021 to 2026 Aviators, and 11 of them concern the rearview image. Their model year ranges overlap from 2020 through 2025, so your build year and VIN decide which filings apply.
| Campaign | NHTSA received | Aviator years | What Ford's filing describes | Remedy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21V223000 | Mar 30, 2021 | 2020 to 2021 | Image processing module may not send video to the display | Software update |
| 21V735000 | Sep 22, 2021 | 2020 to 2021 | 360-degree camera video output may fail | Software update |
| 23V022000 | Jan 23, 2023 | 2020 to 2023 | Same failure, expands and replaces 21V735000 | Software update |
| 23V342000 | May 12, 2023 | 2020 to 2023 | Same failure, expands and replaces 23V022000 | New 360-degree camera |
| 23V598000 | Aug 25, 2023 | 2020 to 2023 | Rear or 360 camera may show no image in reverse | Rearview camera replaced |
| 24V368000 | May 24, 2024 | 2020 to 2024 | Cell phone interference may flicker or distort the image | Shielding on the module |
| 24V801000 | Oct 25, 2024 | 2025 | Image may fail at 10 MPH or more | Software update |
| 25V159000 | Mar 14, 2025 | 2020 to 2023 | Repaired incorrectly under 23V342000 | Software update |
| 25V442000 | Jun 27, 2025 | 2020 to 2023 | Blank image, or image stays on after reverse | Software update |
| 26V123000 | Mar 3, 2026 | 2020 to 2024 | Image may flip or invert | Software update |
| 26V165000 | Mar 19, 2026 | 2025 | Module may reset and drop camera and driver aids | Software update |
Say your 2021 Aviator's 360-degree view went black twice before the first recall letter arrived. That year sits inside nine of the eleven ranges, while a 2025 Aviator sits inside two. NHTSA's VIN decoder lists a 3.0L engine on every pattern checked, a plug-in hybrid on 2020 to 2023 Grand Touring trims, and a 10-speed automatic where it names a transmission.
How Many Times Has Ford Recalled the Aviator 360-Degree Camera for a Lemon Law Attorney to Count?
Four campaigns form one chain. The first, 21V735000, called for a software update. Then 23V022000 replaced it with a second software remedy, 23V342000 added a new camera, and 25V159000 covered Aviators repaired incorrectly under it. A 2020 or 2021 Aviator with the 360-degree camera can fall inside all four.
Still, Ford's own papers show the chain. Its chronology for 23V342000 records blue-image reports after the 21V735000 repair and again after the 23V022000 remedy. Finally, the 25V159000 filing says 8,861 Aviators were recorded as repaired under 23V342000 without the correct software installed. Because a 2022 or 2023 Aviator was outside 21V735000, it can fall inside at most the other three.
Say a 2021 Aviator had a software update, a second update, a replacement camera and a corrective update. That is four dealer visits aimed at one system. They help the presumption only inside 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first, and only if the camera showed the defect.
Phone Interference, Images Lost Past 10 MPH and Flipped Screens
These campaigns describe display behavior. Ford's filings name phone interference, an image that may fail at 10 MPH or more on 2025 models, a blank or lingering image, a flipped image, and repeated module resets on 2025 Aviators. Several also cite Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, the federal rear visibility rule. Then match the words on your repair order to the filing's words.
Can a Foggy Windshield or Dead Wiper Join a Lincoln Aviator Lemon Law Claim?
They can, when the warranty covers the failure and it keeps returning. Trailer tail lights that may not light on 2025 Aviators drew 25V543000. Campaign 25V730000 covers 2025 and 2026 Aviators whose windshield glass may show visible air bubbles. A wiper motor that may fail on 2020 to 2022 Aviators drew 26V117000, with the final remedy anticipated in October 2026. A 2026 climate failure that may disable the defroster drew 26V202000.
What Should the Service Advisor See Before a Lemon Law Lawyer Reviews Your Aviator?
Bring short videos of the failure with the gear selector in view, the date, the odometer reading and whether a phone was in use. Then ask the advisor to write the concern line in your words. A could-not-duplicate order still shows you presented the Aviator for repair.
Say your screen blanks in a Mission Valley parking garage but works perfectly on the dealer's lot at noon. When you hand the video to the advisor, ask that the order mention it. Then a technician who has seen the failure has less reason to write that nothing was wrong.
Recall-Only Repair Orders That Leave Out Your Complaint
The concern line should read like rear camera screen went black while reversing, beside the cause and correction lines. When a recall number sits on the order, check that your own complaint appears too. However, a recall-only order may not show the symptom at all. A symptom that returns after a campaign links the two visits to one defect. Ask for a copy of each order before you leave.
Dash Cams and Powered Phone Mounts Ford May Point To
Ford may argue that an accessory caused a camera fault, and a hardwired dash cam or powered phone mount near the console can invite that argument. Ford's elected track is the set of newer court procedures it opted into. In an elected-track suit filed on or after January 1, 2025, with counsel, section 871.26, subdivision (g)(8), has the owner disclose every modification made after purchase. Keep the installer's invoice, and note whether the camera failed before the accessory went in.
Can One Camera System and Four Dealer Visits Meet the Presumption a Lincoln Aviator Lemon Law Lawyer Uses?
Four repairs of one nonconformity inside 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first, meet the Civil Code 1793.22(b) presumption. That presumption treats Ford as having had a reasonable number of repair attempts, meaning enough chances to fix the defect given its seriousness. The buyer must have directly notified Ford at least once, if Ford's warranty clearly required it.
The presumption also has two other routes. Two repairs of a defect likely to cause death or serious bodily injury meet it, with the same direct notice, meaning a letter to Ford itself. More than 30 cumulative days out of service for repair meets it with no notice. However, Ford can rebut the presumption. A claim can also rest on the full repair history under section 1793.2, subdivision (d)(2), once the window has closed.
Does a Missing Backup Image Impair Safety, Use or Value?
It can impair all three, and any one is enough under section 1793.22, subdivision (e)(1). Ford's filings say a missing or distorted image reduces rear visibility and increases the risk of a crash, so safety is in play. You use the camera at every parking spot, and the window sticker may list the 360-degree view in the price. Separately from the presumption, section 1793.2, subdivision (b), expects each warranty repair within 30 days. Still, only your written agreement or a delay beyond Ford's control extends that.
Lincoln Aviator Lemon Law Deadlines on Ford's Elected Track
Ford Motor Company's opt-in date on the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) list is April 25, 2025. Section 871.30 ties that election to vehicles sold in 2025 or earlier. For an Aviator that election covers, section 871.21 requires suit within one year after the applicable express warranty ends, and never more than six years after delivery. The applicable express warranty is the written coverage that applies to the defect. Section 871.21(c) pauses both limits for repair days and for up to 60 days after a pre-suit notice. That notice, a written demand, is required only before a suit that seeks civil penalties, meaning extra money a court may award for certain violations. It must reach Ford 30 days or more before filing.
Lincoln's website lists limited coverage of 4 years or 50,000 miles for the 2027 Aviator, and your own model year's guide controls. If your coverage ended March 3, 2026, the default filing date would be March 3, 2027, before any pauses. Ford must name the governing procedure at the sale of an Aviator sold new in 2026 or later, under section 871.29, subdivision (d). If it names the older one, Commercial Code section 2725 gives four years, generally from tender of delivery.
Would a Lincoln Aviator Lemon Law Buyback Repay the Camera Package?
A factory camera package is part of the price paid or payable, so restitution, the legal word for a buyback, reaches it with tax, official fees and incidental damages, the expenses the defect caused. The mileage offset deducts the price times the miles driven before the first repair visit for the defect, over 120,000. On a $68,000 Aviator first brought in at 3,000 miles, that is $1,700. Try your own figures in the lemon law buyback calculator, since every contract differs. Under section 1794, subdivision (d), a buyer who prevails recovers costs and reasonable attorney fees.
Should You Put Your Aviator Camera Videos in Front of a Lincoln Aviator Lemon Law Lawyer?
A free consultation at Cline APC matches your recall letters, repair orders and screen videos to decide whether the camera kept failing after Ford had its chances, and which deadline applies. Say you lease an Aviator and keep a folder of recall letters and phone videos. Bring the folder, and a Lincoln Aviator lemon law lawyer reads it with you.
Also add the sales or lease paperwork and any rental receipts. The firm then goes over the dates, the mileage and the likely deadline. The firm cannot promise how a claim ends.
Send the firm a message online, or call (888) 982-6915 for an Aviator camera review. If a company owns the SUV, the firm explains the business vehicle rules for Lincoln Navigator claims.
