Two quick steps. We reply within one business day.
Then a second letter arrived in 2026, and it names an improper first repair as one possible cause. A Kia Telluride lemon law lawyer reads those two letters as the start of a record. Before the next visit, run your VIN through NHTSA's recall search to see every campaign on your SUV.
A Telluride whose seat, dash, parking or engine fault comes back after a recall repair can qualify for a buyback, or for a replacement instead. A buyback, also called restitution, refunds what you paid when Kia takes the SUV back, and a replacement is a substantially identical new Telluride. Each dealer visit that addressed the symptom can count as a repair attempt. The law then asks whether Kia had a reasonable number of them, the fair number of tries the law allows.
Cline APC's only work is lemon law and consumer warranty claims, from La Jolla and Poway.

Which Telluride Seat Motor Warnings Should You Report Before Calling a Lawyer?
Kia's recall report for 26V430000 lists three warnings. The seat slide knob may stick, so the seat will not adjust or keeps moving after you let go. There may be a burning or melting smell, or smoke from under the seat. Each of those belongs on a repair order in your own words, dated and with the odometer reading.
Kia's other Telluride filings also describe these symptoms.
- An instrument cluster that goes blank, taking the speedometer with it
- A grinding noise or reduced power from the driveline
- An abnormal engine noise, a check engine light or a rough-running engine
Say your 2022 Telluride from North County Kia had a seat that stuck and smelled hot twice before any letter arrived. Those two visits plus the recall visit tell a different story than one recall-only appointment.
Which Tellurides Does the Seat Motor Recall Reach, and What Else Does a Lawyer Check?
Campaign 24V407000 names certain 2020 to 2024 Tellurides built through May 29, 2024, with 462,869 potentially affected. However, Kia's bulletin says LX trims are not included. Owners had also filed 1,227 NHTSA complaints on 2021 to 2026 Tellurides by September 29, 2026, with 365 on the 2021 model year.
| Model years | Campaign | What Kia's filing describes | Owner letters |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2021 | 21V164000 | Passenger sensor may miss a child seat | Recall began March 18, 2021 |
| 2022 | 21V577000 | Cluster screen may stay blank after startup | August 3, 2021 |
| 2022 | 22V344000 | Excess adhesive may blank the cluster | July 15, 2022 |
| 2022 | 22V509000 | Wrong spare tire (8 vehicles, Sorentos included) | July 27, 2022 |
| 2020 to 2022, with the Kia 4-pin tow hitch wiring | 22V626000 | Wiring module may short and cause a fire | April 12, 2023 |
| 2023 | 23V035000 | Second-row side airbag wiring may be damaged | February 28, 2023 |
| 2023, with the 4.2-inch cluster | 23V298000 | Cluster may show nothing at startup | May 26, 2023 |
| 2024, built October 1 to December 6, 2023 | 24V077000 | Engine valve springs may break | April 5, 2024 |
| 2020 to 2024, built through October 19, 2023 | 24V214000 | Shafts may not be fully engaged, so the SUV can roll in Park | May 15, 2024 |
| 2020 to 2024 | 24V407000 | Front power seat motor may overheat | July 30, 2024 |
| 2023 to 2025 | 25V494000 | Door belt molding may detach | November 19, 2025 |
| 2025 | 25V745000 | Wrong spare tire | December 3, 2025 |
| 2025, with power front seats | 26V105000 | Seat back frames may not restrain occupants | Starting April 24, 2026 |
| 2020 to 2024 | 26V430000 | Seat motor may overheat, including after an improper 24V407 repair | Dated August 13, 2026 |
Say your 2024 Telluride was delivered in March 2024. The seat motor rows can match it, and so can the engine and roll-away rows if the build date falls in their ranges.
What Does a Kia Telluride Lemon Law Lawyer Make of Kia Replacing Its First Seat Motor Fix?
It matters. Campaign 26V430000 superseded 24V407000 and names a second possible cause, an improper 24V407 repair. The new remedy is an electronic fuse assembly under Kia code SC374. Dealers install it whether or not the first recall was done. In other words, Kia's own filing says an earlier recall repair did not always work.
Kia's chronology counts 18 incidents received from October 17, 2024, through April 24, 2026. Seven were localized seat or under-seat fires, and 11 were localized melting at a seat motor, with no injuries, crashes or deaths reported. Kia's engineers also found sporadic dealer workmanship issues. They suspected some dealers may have reinforced a switch cover instead of replacing the switch. So say you were fixed under 24V407000 and the 2026 letter now arrives. Your first repair order becomes the earliest record in the seat file.
Dark Clusters and Tow Hitch Wiring in One Kia Telluride Lemon Law File
Campaign 22V626000 covers certain 2020 to 2022 Tellurides with a Genuine Kia 4-pin tow hitch wiring module. Debris and moisture on its circuit board can cause a short and a fire, so Kia told owners to park outside. Blank clusters run through 21V577000 and 22V344000 on 2022 models and 23V298000 on 2023 models. Restitution leaves out non-Kia items a dealer installed, but a Genuine Kia tow wiring kit may count as a Kia part, so keep its invoice.
Roll-Aways in Park and Broken Valve Springs on a Kia Telluride Lemon Law Claim
Campaign 24V214000 covers Tellurides whose intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft may not be fully engaged. The SUV can then roll away in Park, so Kia told owners to set the parking brake by hand. Campaign 24V077000 covers 2,872 Tellurides whose valve springs may break, cutting drive power and possibly putting a hole in the engine block. The remedy there is a new engine sub-assembly.
Trim, Spare Tire and Airbag Visits Count as Dates, Rarely as Proof
Some campaigns also fix things you would never feel. That group covers the door molding in 25V494000 and the spare tires in 22V509000 and 25V745000. It also covers the airbag and seat frame work in 21V164000, 23V035000 and 26V105000. A one-time swap rarely changes the use, value or safety of your own SUV. Still, a Kia Telluride lemon law lawyer lists these visits, because they add dates and shop days.
How Should the Next Telluride Repair Order Name the Earlier Campaign for Your Lawyer?
Describe the returning symptom in your own words. Ask that the order tie it to the earlier campaign and note that the campaign was already complete. If the dealer says parts are not available, get that answer in writing, so the delay sits on the record.
Say your 2023 Telluride's cluster goes dark merging onto State Route 163 two months after the 23V298000 update. That visit belongs on a new order that names 23V298000 and says the update was already done.
The 26V430000 owner letter is dated August 13, 2026. Both seat campaigns carry the same outdoor-parking advice until the remedy is installed. Kia's filing also says it reimburses repair costs owners already paid under its general plan. Keep a record of any cost the advice forced on you, because it may count as an incidental expense, a cost the defect caused.
Can a Kia Telluride Lemon Law Lawyer Count Two Seat Motor Recall Visits Toward a Buyback?
They can when the seat actually overheated, stuck or smelled hot, since each visit is an attempt on the same nonconformity. The statute calls a defect a nonconformity when it substantially impairs use, value or safety. A seat fire risk may also fit the two-repair route in Civil Code section 1793.22(b)(1).
That route is part of a presumption, a rule for events within 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first. Once its conditions are met, it treats Kia as having had a reasonable number of repair attempts.
The two-repair route needs two or more repairs of a nonconformity likely to cause death or serious bodily injury. Four or more repairs of one nonconformity also qualify. Either repair route also needs a direct notice from you to Kia at least once, where Kia clearly required one. More than 30 cumulative days out of service for repair of nonconformities is the third route, and no notice applies to it. Section 1793.22 lets Kia rebut the presumption. Still, a claim can win on the whole repair record after the window, and Cline APC's Kia lemon law lawyers read it in full. Picture a 2024 Telluride delivered in March 2024 whose seat stuck in late 2024 and again in spring 2025. Under 18,000 miles, both visits fall inside the window. A 26V430000 visit in 2026 adds one outside it.
Six Years From Delivery on a 2020 Telluride
Kia opted into the newer procedures on May 1, 2025, for Tellurides sold in 2025 and earlier. For those SUVs, suit must come within one year after the applicable express warranty ends, and never more than six years after delivery, under section 871.21. The applicable express warranty is the written Kia coverage that fits the defect. So a 2020 Telluride delivered in March 2020 hit the six-year mark in March 2026, before any pause and before the 26V430000 letters. Days in the shop for a nonconformity stop both clocks, and so do up to 60 days after a pre-suit notice, the written demand covered in section 871.24. A Telluride sold new in 2026 or later is different, since Kia must then disclose the governing procedure at the sale, under section 871.29(d).
Sending a Kia Telluride Lemon Law Demand Built on Recall Letters
Section 871.24 calls for a pre-suit notice, a written demand that only a suit seeking civil penalties requires. Civil penalties are extra sums beyond a refund. Kia needs the notice at least 30 days before you sue, while you still have the Telluride. It gives your name, the VIN and a short repair history, then demands repurchase or replacement. Kia takes it through its CA Lemon Law Notice form or by certified or registered mail, return receipt requested. An offer in 30 days, completed in 60, removes civil penalties, and missing either keeps them available. Where Kia disclosed BBB AUTO LINE, its certified arbitration program, in writing and on time, section 1793.22(c) requires a filing there ahead of any reliance on the presumption.
Telluride Offset Math From the First Symptom Visit
Kia may also deduct a mileage offset, a charge for the miles on the SUV when you first brought it in for that defect. For a seat or cluster defect, that may be the recall visit or an earlier symptom visit, whichever came first. Take a $49,000 Telluride first brought in at 9,600 miles, and the offset is $3,920. Try your own numbers in the lemon law buyback calculator. For a willful violation, section 1794(c) allows a civil penalty capped at two times actual damages.
Will a Telluride Lemon Law Attorney Match Your Recall Letters to Your Repair Orders?
Yes, it can. A free consultation at Cline APC lines up each campaign with your visits, dates, mileage and shop days. It then shows whether the file supports a buyback demand now, or whether it still needs another documented visit first.
For example, say you bring a stack of owner letters, a photo of a stuck knob and a video of a blank cluster. A Kia Telluride lemon law lawyer can pair each item with the order it belongs to.
The firm handles Kia Sportage lemon law claims too, along with Kia Sorento lemon law claims. A buyer who prevails recovers costs and reasonable attorney fees under Civil Code section 1794(d), if a lawyer represents you. The outcome always depends on the facts.
